Social Networking For Writers

I’ve just joined a new social network made for writers. It’s called Mike’s Writer’s Network, and it’s a lot like Facebook. I’m not exactly sure just how everything works at the moment, but I’ve had a blast checking the place out.

First of all, you get your own page to showcase your bio and any websites or blogs you may have. You can even add the RSS feeds from each of your blogs so that all your latest posts can be viewed by anyone who stops by. You can also download your favorite pictures, videos, and even music.

The site also offers a message board designed to discuss all aspects of writing, as well as a chat room for deeper debates. You can also post your own blog posts to be shared with the rest of the network. This could really be a wonderful networking tool for writers.

Though I can’t find any real information about the site itself, from what I can tell, it’s only about a month old. They have a section for favorite groups, but as of right now, there aren’t any groups to join. Plus, many of the members pages I viewed, only showed that they’d been on the site a short time.

The gentleman that has started this social network, is Michael Geffner. Mr. Geffner is a professional journalist who’s work has been in the New York Times, USA Today, and Newsday, just to name a few. He has also won several awards and competitions, including Best Sportswriter in New York City (1990) and Outstanding Column and Feature Writing award from the Associate Press Sports Editors (2005, 2006).

I honestly believe that this site could potentially be one of the best tools for writers. There are a few things that could be better, but I’ve never seen a site come out of the chute in perfect condition. There are always a few bugs that need worked out. But, if want to socialize with other writers, this is the place to do it.

  2. You are so welcome, Mike. I’m a huge fan of sites like Facebook and Twitter, so a site designed just for writers was a way cool idea.

  3. SapheySaphey, darling!

I was a member of Mike’s Yahoo! Writing Group a year or so back. I just got so far behind on reading that I dropped-out. I’m going to check out the site and join-in, though. Thanks for the info.

    Also check out LibraryThing!

  4. Whoo Hoo, very cool sweetie. Glad you stopped by, and be sure to add me as a friend when you get there.

Way happy to see you, darling.
