I thought I’d try to start posting some markets here for my readers.  There are a lot of online venues that will pay you to write fictional and non-fictional pieces for their sites.  Payments vary from site to site, but I’ll try to only post ones that pay something. 

1097 Magazine is currently accepting submissions of poetry, short stories, and flash fiction.  Payment ranges from $5 for poems and $10 for short stories.  They are also accepting various forms of visual art for $10 per image. 

Afterburn SF is seeking submissions of speculative fiction in the genre of fiction, sci-fi, and horror of between 1,000 and 10,000 words.  Turn around time is usually about 60 days and payment is $30 via paypal upon publication.

Clockwork Phoenix is an anthology work in progress that is seeking submissions of fantasy, sci-fi, and/or horror up to 10,000 words.  Payment is 3 cent per word and submissions are due before Feb. 1st, 2008.

Flashquake Magazine is now accepting submissions for their winter issue, due out December 1, 2007.  Stories should be flash fiction, or stories of less than a thousand words, or poetry of no more than 35 lines.  Payments will range between $5 and $25 dollars, depending on the staff and judges.

There are a few sites for you to submit some of your fictional works or poems.  Always be sure to read the guidelines before submitting anything, as each site has a different set of rules.  Have fun, and if you get published let us know.
