I’ve reached the 20K mark
My fingers are numb, my brain is frazzled, and my eyes are beginning to cross, but I have finally gone past the 20k mark. I am officially at 20,432 words. Almost the halfway point.
It’s getting easier to get into the story and not worry so much about word count. Now, my biggest issue is to just keep typing and not keep going back to fix words, or phrases. I keep telling myself to just write. I can go back and edit afterward, but for now, I just have to write. That’s not easy for me. I’m my own worst critic.
I did the NaNo challenge last year, but never made it to this point. My story puttered out around 15,000 words, and I just gave up. Something’s different this year, though, and I’m not sure what it is, I just feel that I have to finish.
I want to thank everyone who’s stopped by and given me their support. I hope you all realize just how much that has meant to me, and that because of your words, I keep going. If I really do finish this book, and get up the nerve to have it published, I will be dedicating it to all of you.
Now, if you will all excuse me, I have to go soak my fingers. I’ve been on them all day. LOL

I’m so proud of you! Any more excerpts, or will they spoil the progress of the plot?
Thank you, baby. My fingers hurt today, but after checking out the stats at the NaNo site, I’m doing better than a few others.
I might put another excerpt soon, but for right now, I’m not sure there’s anything I like well enough to share. LOL
Thanks again, hon.
LOL, I guess we are all critics of our own work.
Well I have a feeling it’s much better than you think it is! Keep up the good work!!
Also, I hope you’ve made a backup copy or two!
I have one copy, but will probably make print out a hard copy when it’s done, just in case.
The strangest part about writing fiction is that after awhile, your characters do take over the story, and before you know it, they’ve brought in friends you never thought of, turn the story line around without you realizing it, and when your done, the story you intended to write and the one you wrote are 2 totally different things. LOL
Way to go, Christine!
Where can I find you at the NaNo site? I’m here:

I’ve added you to my buddy’s list. You’re kicking butt, aren’t you. I’m so happy to see you on this side of the writing world. I miss you and the rest of the gang at Writer’s Chatroom.
Tell them all hi and I invite them all to stop by.
Way to go Christine, 20,000! WOW, that’s 19,500 past my record. You are my hero.
Thanks hon.
I’ve really got to get it in gear. It would be way too easy for me to give it up right now. But, I’m going to keep going, and I AM GOING TO REACH MY GOAL!!!
(Trying to convince myself. LOLOLOL)
Every year I sign up, except this year and reach between 20-30K and fall I can just never seem to keep it going after that. Way to go!!
I lost interest last year before I ever made it to the half way mark. This year, I’m going for it. I’ve got people cheering me on, and I think that makes a huge difference.
