I got a suprise today

Wednesdays are supposed to be the days that I post something that I’ve written in the past or whatever, and to share with the rest of the world.  Well, I have to do a little something different today.

In the comments of my last post, I found that my site has been reviewed by The Radical Blogger.  I was both shocked and suprised by this and of course, had to go see what he had written about our little site.  I have to admit that at first I was a little peeved about a few of the things he had to say, but after reading it a few more times, I realized that it was a pretty good review.

He said he thought I needed an email RSS feed supscription option in my side bar, which I have since added.  Honestly folks, I thought I had already done that, but guess I missed it.  LOL.  Anyway, there is now an email option for RSS feed.  Secondly, he said I added to much space at the bottom of each post.  Ok, on one post, there was a lot of extra space at the bottom and I have fixed that.  I write most of my posts in WordPerfect and just cut and paste it into my blog.  Sometimes, I add too much space, and for that I apologize.

Finally, he said I had too much white space in the side bars and that I should add a couple more Adsense ads to try and fill that up.  And it is true that there aren’t very many ads on this site, but there is a reason for that.  I am as much into making money online as anyone else, but that’s not what this site is all about.  I have a bunch of other sites that help me with that.  This site is about me being a writer, me helping my fellow writers, and having a place where I can write to my heart’s content.

Our overall score on this site was a whopping 9.5 out of a possible score of 10.  That made my whole day right there.  I have to admit that The Radical Blogger’s review of this site was very honest and very insightful.  I want to thank The Radical Blogger for reviewing this site.  I am honored and humbled.

  1. I can’t believe that you emailed me freaking out… That is a flawless review… The guy is actually telling you to monetize your blog more heavily! LOL!!!

Think about it… how many sites do you visit that have WAYYYYY too much advertisements? And then we have good ol’ CS where the content gets put first before monetization.

I am pleased with that review, especially since I hold myself partly accountable as well… more so, if it was a bad review though… you can have all the credit since it was a 9.5! That is awesome!

  2. Hi I think it was a great review. Keep up the great job blogging.
BTW you have been tagged for a zodiac meme.

  3. Hi. Thanks for writing the article. It is always interesting to hear what the reviewed think of my reviews.

I think I should clarify one point though - I probably did not word it very well. My suggestion to add another ad to your sidebar was not so much to encourage more ads - the point I was making was that there was plenty of room for other objects and that even another adsense unit could be incorporated without taking away from the pages overall look. Sorry I did not make that clearer.

I wonder, does the previous comment indicate that the legendary Garry Conn dot com visited one of my pages - cool if he did - otherwise - oh well :)

Again thank you for the write up.

ps - another surprise later today

  4. Les,

You are very welcome. And thank you for the clarification. You’re right about the fact that I do need a little more around the site.

And I can guarantee that Mr. Garry Conn, the blogfather himself, visited your site. He’s a really cool guy.

Can’t wait for the next suprise. :)

  5. This is an awesome score.

I guess there wasn’t much wrong here at all so in the true sense of being a critic he had to nitpick at the little things.

I would be in tears if he reviewed my blog right now!

  6. Well I thought it must be time for the real GodFather to come out of the closet.

Remember Missy when I did a post on my blog about your site, in return for your very nice words you posted about me (Being a Great writer and all) for new years. Well Les and I are becomming close friends due to the fact that a few months ago I think he reviewed my site for me through blogcatalog. After Garry emailed a few of us about your post you made and dedicated it to us I decided to involve my Aussie friend to review your site. If you both have found a new respect for each other and a few new friends to top that all off, then my job is complete.

    ps

I think your score beat mine too so Les you have it comming for that one dude.

  7. OOOOO, Collin,

That is the coolest thing ever. Thanks honey.

I was so happy with the review. And now that I know how he found me, I’m more honored than before.

You are a sweetheart, Collin. Thank you

Legendary! Wow… I am having trouble fitting through the doorway as my head just got really inflated. :)

And Holy Cow… I had no idea that that email that I sent out to a few friends sparked that review. Wow… blogging really blows my mind sometimes.
