Cats Curious Press call for submissions
Remember all those fairy tales we heard when we were kids? Well, did you ever want to rewrite those stories to fit your own ideas of what should happen? Right now, Cats Curious Press is accepting submissions for just this idea. Here’s the details:
Chose any fairy tale you like and rewrite it from the protagonists’s POV. The editor will choose a few of the best submissions and have author Jim C. Hines choose his favorite out of the lot and will write the same story from the antagonist’s POV. In the end, it will produce a double sided book with the same story seen from both sides.
All entries need to be at least 5000 words, but no more than 10,000 words. All submissions need to be written in a humorous tone, as this is meant to be a fun look at the world of fairy tales, but please keep it clean as this book should appeal to readers of all ages. If accepted, payment will be set at $0.05 per word, not to exceed $500. All submissions are due by midnight March 31, 2008.
This is your chance to tell your favorite stories from a whole different point of view. So jump in there and let Little Red Riding Hood have her day. Or better yet, give Snow White the chance to punch her step-mother in the mouth. Good luck and let us know if you submitted a story. Who knows, we might have to do a post about you making your way into this very cool book.

Hey!…I Googled for i ricci, but found your page about Curious Press call for submissions…and have to say thanks. nice read. Christina Ricci
Hey there, I just submitted my alternate fairy tale and wanted to say how much fun was it to take a story I already knew and make it mine! All I can say is, it surely wasn’t a pea that gave that poor princess her bruises! I’m excited to see what comes out of the contest (even if it isn’t mine!) what a terrific excercise!
