Tuesday’s Treasures~~~Candy Apples

I love this time of year.  The changing of the leaves, the crispness of the morning air, and the smell of candy apples in my kitchen.  But, not all candy apples are made to be eaten.  I know, sad huh?  I found a couple places where you can find candy apples in forms that will still make your mouth water, but it’s probably not a good idea to eat them.  Let’s see what we have.

1.) Candy Apple Dead by: Sammi Carter
This book is about a young woman who leaves her big city life behind and returns to her hometown to help run her aunt’s candy shop.  But she ends up becoming an amateur sleuth when her brother becomes the #1 suspect in an arson…and a death.  With a 4 out of 5 stars rating on Amazon.com, this is a great little book to sink your teeth into.

2.) Kawaii Candy Apple Magnets
This just proves that you can find just about anything on a magnet.  These are just adorable with 3 little candy apples set on a black background.  I just love their cute little faces and almost makes me think that it would just be mean to eat them…almost.  They can be purchased in 3 different sizes, and either on square or circular magnets.

3.) Candied Apples Keychain
Now here’s a way to stand out from the crowd, even while driving.  This sweet little keychain will tell everyone around you that you love your candy apples in a big way.  What better way to emphasize the candy apple red paint job on your motorized baby than with this awesome little tidbit?

4.) Lola Originals Handcrafted Candy Apples
As a kid, I loved playing with my doll houses.  But even though I had a few pieces bought from a store, most of my pieces were made from little things my mom had lying around the house.  I never had things like these miniature candy apples for my dolls.  These are just too cute and look as close to the real thing as you can get.  This would make any doll house the hit of the miniature neighborhood.

Okay, now that I’ve got your mouth set for all these sweet little treasures, make sure you get out there and find something to your own personal taste.  Even if you can’t eat

Tuesday’s Treasures~Week #2~Autumn Reading

Since getting my new Kindle, it seems I’m finding Kindle titles everywhere I look.  So when I was looking for some new treasures to pass along to you, I was amazed at the number of Autumn titles out there that can either be read on a Kindle, or elsewhere via an online reader or e-book reader.  Here are a few of the titles I’ve run across that are rather inexpensive, which is what makes them treasures.

1.) Autumn Leaves: Original Pieces in Prose and Verse
Being someone who loves poetry and has written quite a bit myself, I think this would be an awesome gift idea for someone who has a Kindle.  It would make a great birthday gift, or even an anniversary gift from a husband to a wife.  Best of all, this little e-book only costs about $1.99 and because it transfers automatically via Kindle’s WiFi capabilities, there is no S&H charges.

2.) Taste Test: Shades of Autumn
This is a book of 3 short stories by 3 different authors.  Published in 2008 and sold through Barnes & Nobles, is can be had for $2.49.  It is downloadable via WiFi and 3G networks.  Add a bit of romance into the cooler days and check out Shades of Autumn now.

3.) Aztec Autumn
And finally, I found a copy of a neat little book about a renegade Aztec warrior who decides he’s not going to give into his Spanish oppressors.  He rouses a band of like-minded warriors and sets out to bring back the glory that was the Aztec Nation.  Unlike the other two books I posted about, this one is a real, cover and pages type book found in the Amazon Warehouse.  Price is $5.49 with $3.99 S&H.  The thing is that you’ve got to get this one while it lasts, because this is a last time deal.

As the weather begins to turn cooler, we set out to find things to do indoors.  And what better to do on a cool autumn evening than curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book.  Enjoy the season.

Tuesday’s Treasures

I’m going to try and start something else new around here. I learn a lot from many of the other giveaway sites and mommy bloggers out there. I know that might not sound impressive but when you add in the fact that I’m quite a bit older than most of the mommy bloggers out there, it makes more sense. I don’t have young children and babies all over the place. I have one kid in the Navy and the other is in high school. Needless to say, I’m preparing myself for the day I become a grandma. Not too soon though, I’m not quite ready to be there just yet.

Anyway!! I’m going to attempt to start a weekly post here about different deals throughout the Internet and beyond. I don’t know where that is, but I’m going to try and get there. I’ll be posting about different sales going on–some strictly online, others both online and in physical stores, some just in the stores. These deals and sales will cover pretty much whatever my fancy happens to be that week. My goal is to come up with a weekly theme and maybe even do an entire week’s worth of specialized days, but we’ll just take this one day at a time for now.

To start off my first week’s treasure finds, I’d like to draw your attention to one of my all-time favorite online fabric shops; The Virginia Quilter. I love the fabrics from this shop. They’re absolutely beautiful and they’re not all that expensive. But!!! They have a section where you can find clearance fabrics and an entire section of closeouts. And going on right now, The Virginia Quilter is having a Super Closeout Sale where you can get the absolute lowest price in the store, but there is a 2 yd. cut minimum.

Sign up for their newsletter and be kept up on all the latest deals and sales going on. They also have a monthly giveaway for $25 gift certificate to their store. What I could do with $25 to play with at this site. Being the fabric junkie that I am, I’d be in Heaven and I’d have some beautiful new treasures to add to my ever-growing collection.
