Hey kids, hope all is well with everyone. I’m in the process of trying to make sure this blog gets updated every day this month. How? I’ve joined the NaBloPoMo challenge for August. For anyone who isn’t sure what that is, it’s a great site for bloggers of all shapes and sizes. Each month, the site comes up with a theme. Anyone who wants to participate needs to sign up with the site, add their blog to the list, then post to their own blog every day with something that has to do with that month’s theme.

The theme for August is “green”. Now I know most people will think right off the top of their head, “Going Green”, which is the first thing I though of as well. But then it dawned on me that “Green” can have a huge range of meanings. First of all, it’s my daughter’s favorite color, it can entail the color of the trees and gardens, it can be about the color of a comforter seen in a magazine, or it can be about the “Go Green” movement. It can even be about making money. Whatever the meaning behind it, the theme is green.

I actually have a plan to make sure that I get something posted each day for the whole month. I can write a few posts ahead of time and have them tucked away in my draft section and ready to go for when I don’t have time to sit down and play with my blogs. As long as each post is “green” in some form, I’ll be fine. I even have some sort of idea on how to make giveaway and review posts “green”. I don’t have it all figured out just yet, but I have an idea and for me that’s a huge bonus. LOL

So, I invite everyone to come and join in for the “Green Blogging” month at NaBloPoMo. You don’t have to be a blogging genius, you don’t even have a minimum word count to work with. You just have to post to your blog each day during the month and it has to be centered around something “green”.

Have fun and happy blogging.

I found a new place to get paid to write called Info Barrel. Now, I can’t say right now that this is the most amazing site ever created, as of the time of this writing I’ve only been a member for 5 days. However, I can say that in this past 5 days I’ve met some totally awesome people and am impressed with the way the Info Barrel system works.

First of all, this is a site where you get paid via your Google and Amazon accounts. You can also get paid through Chitika, but I’m not a member of that site so can’t say if it’s more profitable than the others. I can say though, the authors on the site receive 75% of the Google ads impressions that is derived from their content. Not bad at all. I’ve seen a lot of sites that range from 45% to 80%, so this isn’t anything to sneeze at.

Next thing to remember is that nobody is pre-approved from day one. Every member that signs up with Info Barrel is on a 14 day-10 article probationary period. What that means is that you must have at least 10 articles approved by the admin team and have been a member for at least 14 days before you can post articles without the admin’s approval.

Also, the minimum word count for any article should be 325 words. However, anything over 400 words is preferred. Keep in mind, though, an article shouldn’t be more than 5,000 words in length. If you have an article that’s longer than that, break it down into a couple smaller articles.

Here are a few tips for making sure your articles get approved:

1.) Post informational articles only. This isn’t the place to talk about your grandmother’s birthday party or to share your latest poem. However, you can post an article about how to make your grandmother’s birthday party more memorable, or write about the differences in poetry styles from the 18th century to today.

2.) Make sure your articles have correct punctuation and are written in plain English. A little typo here and there probably won’t make much of a difference, but things that are outwardly bad will be declined by the admin team. Always go over your work before hitting the publish button.

3.) Don’t write about hateful things. An article about Violence in America is one thing, but writing an article that is filled with racial slurs, hate-mongering, and sexual overtones is NOT what this site is looking for. Write a decent, fact-based article but keep the slander out of it.

4.) Finally, don’t write about just one topic over and over. One of the things that this site is looking for are people who can diversify their writing styles. Though I usually write about parenting or writing, I have to dig deeper within myself and write about other things I know. It’s not easy, but it does make me work a little harder for my benefit, and the benefit of the site.

You don’t have to be a genius to write for Info Barrel. If you can put together an informative article or review, you will get approved. Make sure to check for spelling and grammatical errors, keep your word count between 400 and 5,000 words, and you’ll be on your way to Info Barrel greatness in no time.

I found a new site where you can write for money. The site is called Bukisa, and it seems pretty good so far. It’s a lot like Helium, as you get paid based on the number of views to your work. However, through this site, your earnings are also based on the site’s rating index. For example, if the site’s index is at 4 and you’re content receives 1,000 unique views, you receive $4.

There are a lot of different topics to choose from, as well as different publication choices, such as text articles or videos. Text articles must be at least 250 words in length, but no more than 1500 words. Videos should be no more than 100mb in size. If you’d rather add an audio clip or a slide show presentation, these options are also available.

Due to the fact that this site is still rather new, there are still some bugs that need to be worked out here and there. For the most part, however, I’m pretty happy with this place. I have read some negative press about Bukisa, like you have to give up your rights to your work once published on the site. According to the site’s CTO, Simon Gelfand, this simply is not true. Everything you post on the site remains your property.

Minimum payout is set at $10, and is paid through PayPal. Payments are sent within 30 days of whatever month you reach payout level. Basically, it means that if you reach payout on the 14th of December, you’ll get paid by the end of January. Site revenues are made through a wide array of venues, including text ads, banner ads, and email marketing, just to name a few.

I can’t say whether this site is going to last or not, but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m pretty excited. I’ve published 2 different articles on the site and have already had quite a few views. As time goes by and I add new content, I’ll be able to tell if this site is worth the time or not. For now, I’m happy with everything I’ve seen.

There are literally thousands of great writers around the Internet who have written some amazing articles and powerful stories, but seem to have trouble getting their work published. I’ve found a place where you can publish your work and earn money each time your work is read by others.

Triond.com allows writers to publish their work, free of charge. There are a few guidelines, but they’re rather easy to follow. Each piece you publish must be your own work and cannot have been published anywhere else, either online or in print.

All items must be approved by the site’s admin and each writer receives 50% of revenues generated by their work. Payments are sent out via check or paypal. Payout is $0.50 if paid through Paypal, or $50.00 if sent by check.

Unlike other sites, Triond.com allows writers to publish either fiction or non-fiction and still receive payment. Also, every piece published is able to receive royalties for as long as it remains on the site. One article could potentially earn the writer for several years, as long as others are stopping by to read.

Triond.com is a global company, meaning that anyone can join, and submissions may be published in any language. There are a few content restrictions, however Triond tries to allow room for creative license.

If you’ve got a drawer full of old stories or poems that you’d like to publish and earn a little money from, then sign up with Triond.com and add a new chapter to your earning story.
