Want To Host A Blog Tour???

How many times have you seen a virtual blog tour on one of your favorite book blogs?  Ever wonder what it takes to host one of these tours?  Well, if you’ve ever been interested in doing so, you need to check out Bobbie Crawford-McCoy and her NURTURE virtual book tourz site.  This wonderful lady has all the resources to put writers and blog hosts together to get the word out about both involved.  It’s a win-win for both parties.

I seriously don’t know how she does it, but Bobbie has created an entire world around getting the right book tours onto the right blogs.  The first step to becoming one of those blogs is to sign up for the hosting package.  It is important to note that your site has to be approved before anything further will be done.  If your site is approved, you will be sent the hosting welcome package and things will go from there.  I have to admit that I have NOT joined the hosting club for one reason only, I’m not sure I have what it takes to host a book tour—or several of them for that matter.  I’d love to do it, but would hate to drop the ball where someone else’s world is involved.

The one thing that Bobbie mentions above all else is that hosting a book tour is a daunting task and it takes a lot of time and effort.  The rewards behind it are well worth it, but you’ve got to be ready to put your all into it.  However, it’s not just the love of books that you’ll get in return for your actions.  There’s actually an incentive program in place that gives all hosts a chance at winning a $25 GC from Amazon.com.  Each time you host a successful book tour, you’ll earn 1 point.  After reaching a total of 5 points, you’ll be entered to win one of these gift cards.  There is a drawing each month, so if you don’t win in one month, you’ll be in the next month’s drawing and so forth.  Hosts are able to win a total of 3 times per year and everyone’s totals revert back to zero on Jan. 1st.

For those who don’t get to host very often, don’t worry, she’s thought of you too.  Twice a year, every host’s name is thrown into a drawing to win one of 3 $25 Amazon GC’s.  This happens on the 1st of June and December.  Even if you only have 1 point, you’re name is still in the running.  And there are 3 cards issued on each drawing.

If you’ve been thinking about getting in on something like this, but didn’t know how, this is the time to check it out.  Go visit Bobbie’s site and fill out the form to see if your site qualifies for approval.  If you do qualify and start hosting book tours, please let us know here and I’ll be more than happy to pass along the information to the rest of the world.  Good luck and let’s go on some Book Tourz!!!!!

Small Blogs Big Giveaway Event

sbbgjpg-292x300
There is a huge event going on starting today (8-22-11) through next Monday (8-29-11).  It’s the 2nd edition of Small Blogs, Big Giveaways and this one’s got a ton of books just waiting to be had.  There are a total of 34 books and 9 gift cards to be given away.  Plus, keep an eye out on some of the site’s involved with this giveaway as they’re having smaller giveaways of their own on their sites too.

This is a cool way for some of the smaller book blogs to get their names out there and get noticed.  Think you’d like to be involved in something like this?  You can.  The 3rd edition will be held from September 23rd-30th.  There’s a sign up form right on the SBBG site so get in there and get your name in the hat.

Good luck and go win some awesome books!!!

What’s Happening Around The Web???

Tonight’s post is only going to be a quickie but there were a couple things I wanted to mention.  First and foremost, Happy Birthday H.P. Lovecraft.  He would have been 121 today.  And for as creepy as some of his work was, it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that he was still among the living, but in another dimension.  LOL

Another thing I wanted to tell you about is a giveaway happening right now at Paranormal Haven.  They are holding a Fright Night giveaway and 2 winners will be chosen.  Winner will get a Fright Night baseball cap, a full-length movie poster, and some Fright Night removable tattoos.  And though I’m not a huge movie buff, I’d kinda like to see this movie.  Why?  Well, I do like some vampire movies—–though I prefer vampire books.  But, the idea of having Colin Farrel nibbling on my neck would turn me into a movie buff right now.  Then to find out that David Tennant (The previous and most awesome Dr. Who) is also in the movie made me want to run out and see it asap.  Hubby would never go, but wouldn’t matter anyway.  I’d never remember he was in the room.  LOL—Go get in on the giveaway while you can, it ends on August 24th.

And finally, as of Monday (August 22nd), Amanda from On A Book Bender will be hosting her very first Bout of Books Read-A-Thon.  This sounded like a lot of fun so I jumped in with both feet and have put my name it the hat to officially be part of this event.  Of course, all I’ll be doing is reading, but I have to set goals for this and I will.  I just hope I can attain them.  LOL

The Read-A-Thon will run from the 22nd through Sunday, August 28th, while the sign up form will be open until Saturday the 27th.  There will be 10 different giveaways held during this time, but you’ve got to be signed up in order to enter.  So, here are my goals for this event.  Because I don’t get a chance to read as often as I’d like, I’m kinda setting myself up for a fall here but what the heck.
Goal #1–To finish reading Perception by Heather Cashman and get my review posted.
Goal #2–To read at least 2 more full books before the end of the event.

I know those don’t sound like big goals, but I really don’t get a lot of time to read.  When I do, it’s usually late at night and I’m doing all I can to stay awake to finish at least the next chapter.  LOL

So, go check out some of the things happening around the web.  If you’ve got an upcoming book related event and would like me to do a post about it, just ask.  I’ll be more than happy to pass it along.
