Yippy Skippy It’s Friday

It’s been quite some time since I last posted over here. We put our son on a bus Monday morning to head off to the Navy, and I haven’t done a lot of anything since. Well, it’s time to get back out there and stop being so depressed. For any Mommies out there who are working on potty training or learning how to tie shoes, enjoy every minute of it. Before you know it, they’re on their way out the door and off to see the world.

Fairy Blog Mother

Ok, enough depressing stuff, let’s move on. I was just notified that I’ve officially won my 2nd giveaway. Special thanks goes out to Annette at The Fairy Blog Mother and her giveaway of a free 30-day trial of the paid option of Pogo Games. I’m a Pogo addict, with Boggle Bash being my all time favorite game (Word Whomp coming in a close second). As much as I’d love to have a full subscription to the paid portion, I end up spending my money on stupid things like food and bills. So thank you to my Fairy Blog Mother for giving me a full 30 days of avoiding my housework.

And this is week #8 of something I’ve found to be a great way of meeting people. Welcome to Friday Follow. I’ve added a couple of my other sites to the Friday Follow blog hop and am just amazed each week at how many people come along and follow my blogs. So, how does it work? Simple! First of all, you need to follow the first three names on the list as these are the wonderful women who started the whole thing.

Then, add your name to the McLinky list and watch the follower come in. Some days you’ll have a ton of followers come in, others you’ll only have a few here and there. But, they do come in and it’s a great feeling knowing that there are others out there who want to be part of your world too. Remember though, you should always follow anyone who comes by and follows you. Sometimes it can take quite awhile to get to all of them, but it’s just a good neighborly thing to do.

Another thing you should keep in mind is that you can only add your site on Friday (each Friday). Your site will be visible throughout the rest of the week so others can come by and still join your site, but come the next Friday, we start all over again. But more than anything else, it’s well worth your time to get in on the party. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it’s a great way to find blogs you didn’t know existed.

Freebies And Giveaways

I finally have a line of focus for this site. Most people would take a personalized blog like this and make it their own, but I’ve just never been able to do that. However, I’ve found a whole new world on the Internet that I’m having a blast with. Well, that isn’t exactly true. I’ve dabbled in this strange little world before, but never on this site or with this much enthusiasm. No, I’m not talking about the occult. I’m talking about the wonderful world of the Blog Giveaways.

When I first really got started with blogging, I had a serious blog contest habit. I had a ball until I won a contest and never received my prize. I was pissed, to say the least. And it pretty much turned me off of blogging contests. But, the giveaways and contests I’ve been looking at for the past couple of weeks are a little different. These are put on by a circle of women (and a few men, I’m sure) who all have one major thing in common; they’re all Blogger Mommies!!!!!! Best of all, I are one too. LOLOLOLOL

Anyway, after really going through a few of these blogs, I’ve decided that this little site is the best place for me to start posting about some of the cool giveaways out there. And, because this blog is hooked up to my Facebook account, I’ll be able to pass them along to my minions, er, friends. LOL

I’m fortunate that I have the ability to stay home and do this kind of thing. Of course, I’m able to stay home because of my writing business, oh and that guy that lives here and pays all the bills. (I love you, honey :D ) But I still understand the meaning of saving money anywhere and everywhere I can, and if I can get in on some freebies in the process, right on. And being a mom, I have no problem passing this information on to my fellow mommies, and daddies.

So, if you happen to notice that this site goes from not having more than 2 posts a month, to having 3 or 4 a day, you’ll know why. If I come across something really cool, I’ll be more than happy to let everyone else know as well. Come on along, let’s see how much stuff we can all get, and how much of it we can get for free.

FREEBIES RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find Work At Blogger Jobs

I found a really cool site that I just had to pass along to everyone else.  It’s called Blogger Jobs, and it’s a pretty neat site.  Just like a normal blog, you can sign up for the RSS feeds and get updates every time the site posts a new job opportunity.

Some of the jobs posted here are basically blogs looking for writers who want to add their Google Ads code into their pages, or split the ads between the blogging host and the writer.  Some ads are for real companies looking to hire someone to run their blogs for them.

One of the cool things about this site is that bloggers can post their mini resume’s to the “Bloggers For Hire” section.  Now mind you, Blogger Jobs isn’t hiring, but they will help you get your name out there so anyone who is might find you.  Also, you’ve got to read their TOS for submitting yourself into their database.

I found a couple of offers that sounded like good opportunities, and I’m giving them a shot.  I can’t say whether or not their going to be worth it, but it never hurts to try.  As time goes on, if they work out, I’ll be more than happy to let everyone know.  If not, then I’m sure not going to send you guys over there.

There are some cool blogger jobs out there, and as blogging becomes more popular, more companies are looking to hire bloggers.  Are you a blogger in need of a blogging job?  Go check out Blogger Jobs and see for yourself.  I’m not promising miracles, or even that you’ll land the job you’ve always wanted.  But they have tried to add a little something for everyone.

Adding Some Body To Your Posts

With the tens of thousands of blogs on the Internet these days, there is always something to read about.  Every day, another blog hits the net looking to get in on the “make money” train.  Now, mind you, not all of these blogs claim to be experts in the field, they’re just looking for their place in the cyber world.

With that, I’ve noticed that a few of these blogs are just placing any old thing on their sites in order to pack on the content.  Some of them simply run the RSS feed from other blogs onto theirs, and in my opinion, this is just wrong.  But, that’s my opinion.

Then there are those that bang out a few words in order to say that they’ve written a post.  There is no substance to the post.  No real information.  I don’t mind reading a post that is trying to sell me something, but at least take the time to really tell me about the product you’re selling.

If you’re going to take the time to write a post, give it some body.  Give it some personality so that it stands out and catches my attention.  Don’t just say, “hey, I thought this CD was cool, so buy it from my site”.  Tell me about the CD.  Who’s on it, how long has it been out, why should I put out my money for it?

If you’re posts are boring, you won’t be keeping your readers around for long.  However, if you’re posts are vibrant and lively, you’ll have readers coming back time after time.  It’s all in how you word your articles.  You don’t have to talk down to your readers, but don’t bang out robotic articles that sound pretty much the same.

If you add a little pizzazz to your posts, you’ll bring in more readers.  And if you’re trying to sell something, more readers mean a bigger potential for buyers.  The difference between a good post and a great post is all in how you word it.

Rewards Of Blogging

There was a time when everyone wanted their own website.  Anyone who had a few bucks in their pocket could take that leap and become one with the Internet.  There were also tons of places that would help you create your first site for free, but you had to let them put their ads on your website.

Then came online weblogs.  Digital diaries where anyone and everyone could talk about what they had for breakfast, their Aunt Sally’s birthday party, and even discuss all the evils that the world had thrust upon them.  Since then, blogs have become an online phenomenon.  Nearly everyone has a blog, and many of these people are using their blogs to make money.  But, more than that, they’re delivering real information to the world.

There are still plenty of blogs that give people a place to let off steam, but most of them are strictly used for the purpose of informing the reader.  Plus, nearly all of these sites have taken on the purpose of talking about specific topics, or niches.  If you know a lot of stuff about any topic, you can create a niche site.

You don’t have to be a genius to run a successful blog, but you do need to remember a couple things.  First of all, keep your blog updated on a regular basis.  By adding more information, you’ll keep your readers coming back.  And secondly, take the time to spell check your posts.  Just because you’re running a blog doesn’t mean you can let this part slide.  Your readers will notice lots of mistakes and may decide to look elsewhere for their information.  Running a blog is easy, and with a little work, can be very rewarding.
